Scene Change is also committed to fostering new talent, which is why we are offering up to a £100 bursary alongside every event to an artist of our choice. The chosen artist will then be invited to showcase their work at the following Scene Change, demonstrating their use of the funding. For example, a costume designer may use the money to buy materials and exhibit the finished piece at the following event.
The Everyman and Playhouse’s young people’s company YEP has been on a roll over the last 18 months, and last night unveiled yet another string to its bow with the launch of Scene Change, a new networking and performance night for young creatives. YEP has steadily been expanding to incorporate not just young actors, but those interested in all strands of theatre-making, and this includes the relatively new Young Producers strand. The event, that will take place every other month, is their idea. Scene Change is for young people aged between 18 and 26, and is open to all creative talent, from writers to artists, magicians to musicians, comedians to costume designers – anyone willing to share their work with each other (and the public) in the Playhouse Studio. YEP Producers - Doug Bolton, Alecia Marshall, Martin Poile and Saira Kewley – envisage collaborations resulting from the performance evenings as those who come and watch and those who perform each find the perfect ingredient for their project; such as a film-maker seeing a monologue performed and wanting to turn it into a short film, or directors finding behind-the-scenes talent like set designers as a result of connections made at...
